The game starts with both ships having 90 energy units, which can be depleted in two ways: firing your laser will use up 2 points, while being hit by enemy fire will lose 5 points. If your energy level drops to 10 points or less, you'll be unable to fire lasers, preventing accidental self-destruction. On the other hand, flying through one of the two starbases located at opposite ends of the screen will replenish your energy units.
