The Orange Box is a compilation of five games. Half-Life 2 takes place in an alternate universe where Earth has been invaded by alien creatures called Combine forces. The player must rescue the world's scientist who can reverse this invasion, while dealing with other enemies and situations.
The gameplay involves first-person shooting and puzzle-solving as you navigate through various levels, each with unique objectives and challenges. As you progress through the game, new allies join your cause, such as Dr. Wallace Breen, who is secretly working to overthrow the Combine forces.
