The game's story revolves around a global conflict between the two series. Players can choose to play as their favorite characters and engage in intense tag team battles. The gameplay focuses on quick character switching and complex combos. Special attacks are performed by filling up a three-tier Cross Gauge, which can be activated by fulfilling certain conditions during fights.

The game introduces two new systems: the gem system and Pandora mode. The gem system allows players to select three gems for their characters, boosting their statistics such as attack, defense, speed, vitality, assist, and Cross Gauge. Pandora mode enables a character with low health to sacrifice themselves, giving the other character an advantage in terms of strength and infinite Cross Gauge.
