Fight Club is based on David Fincher's film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel of the same name. Fed up with consumerist American culture, a fight club is founded as a new type of therapy through bare-knuckle fighting. The game focuses on the fights and uses many characters and environments from the original story. You can create a new fighter or clone one of the generated characters.
The gameplay involves three different fighting styles: grappling, kung fu, and brawling, each with its unique moveset. You'll earn Character Development Points (CDP's) after each successful fight to upgrade or heal your character.
Aside from regular arcade mode, survival mode, and training mode, there's also a story mode where you progress as a rookie to become a key player in Project Mayhem. Both the Xbox version and online multiplayer feature are available in both the PS2 and Xbox versions.
The game's soundtrack features tracks by notable bands such as The Dust Brothers, Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Queens of the Stone Age.
