Willow , released on the Famicom in 1989, is an action RPG that brings the story to life with the player assuming the role of Willow. The chosen one must find a way to restore human form to Fin Raziel and defeat Bavmorda.
Gameplay follows a similar path as other action RPGs, such as The Legend of Zelda, offering a top-down perspective where enemies are visible on screen. Defeating enemies earns experience points, leading to Willow's stats increasing over time automatically. New items like weapons, shields, and magic can be discovered in treasure chests or given to the player as part of the story. Battles against minor foes also give way to boss battles with characters from the movie.
