GETTING STARTED
From the Title Screen, press the START Button to advance to the Game Mode Screen. Choose between Battle Mode, Tournament Mode, Option Mode and Build Up Mode by selecting one of the icons at the bottom of the screen.
DRAGON BALL GT
At the Title Screen, press the SELECT button to advance to the Sound menu. You can listen to the background music and sound effects for the game by pressing the button to play and the ▲ button to stop. Use the directional buttons to highlight "End" and press the button to exit the Sound menu.
Although you will find references to Bandai throughout Dragon Ball GT® Final Bout, Atari and FUNimation have rereleased the game (originally created by Bandai in 1997) so that fans and collectors can enjoy this classic title. The game's packaging and manual have been updated, but the game code remains unchanged.
BATTLE MODE
To play against the computer, select VS COM. To play against a person, select VS MAN (battle). When playing against the computer, the computer selects your opponent.
You must beat all of the characters, including the hidden ones, to see the ending of the game. You can set the difficulty level to Easy, Normal or Hard at the Options Menu.
BATTLE SCREEN
If you choose the 1P option, your character's data is shown in the upper-left corner of the Battle Screen. Data for Player 2 is shown in the upper-right corner.
LIFE GAUGE
The life gauge shows a character's life strength. If you are fighting in Battle Mode, the life gauge appears in yellow at full health. The color changes to red as your character sustains more damage.
If a character's life gauge is depleted, that character has lost.
POWER GAUGE
Each character can use special energy attacks powered by Ki, such as the Kamehameha Wave and the Energy Ball. When you make an energy attack, your character's power gauge dwindles.
You can recover this power by gathering more Ki; press the button and the button simultaneously to increase power.
TOURNAMENT MODE
From one to eight players can compete in Tournament Mode. For two or more players, two controllers are required. Tournament Mode can only be played with controller configuration A.
Follow these steps to begin a Tournament:
1.
Choose a Character.
Press the directional buttons to select the character you want to use and then press the x button to continue. More than one player may choose the same character.
2.
Choose a location.
Use the directional buttons to select Stage 1 or Stage 2 and then press the x button to continue. In Stage 1, the Meteor Smash attack cannot be used. In Stage 2, the Meteor Smash is available.
3.
Start tournament
Press the START button to enter the Tournament. The game will match up opponents automatically.
BUILD UP MODE
In Build Up Mode, you can increase your favorite characters' skills through fighting and save the improved character to a memory card. For example, if you use the Special Knockout Trick and Meteor Smash often, these skills will be improved.
Here's how it works:
1. Insert a memory card with at least 1 block free space in MEMORY CARD slot 1 or MEMORY CARD slot 2.
2. Choose the Build Up Mode icon on the Game Mode Screen, and select the memory card that you are going to use.
3. Start fighting against a computer character. Your opponent's level will change as your character's level changes.
4. Your character's skill will increase whether you win or lose the battle, and the improvements will be saved. A single memory card can save data for up to 15 characters.
Reading the Buildup Screen
Use the Build Up Mode Screen to build your character efficiently. The Battle Screen looks the same as in Battle Mode and Tournament Mode.
The numbers above each character portrait show each character's level. After you defeat an opponent, that character's portrait appears gray. Your character's Level (LV) and Battle Power (BP) are displayed on the bottom of the screen.
Once you defeat all of the characters in a block, a hidden character will appear. Once you defeat this character, you can advance to the next block.
Built up characters can fight each other as well. You and your friends can challenge each other with built up characters by selecting Build Up Battle.
