Egg Mania is a puzzle game where you control an egg-shaped character against another player or the computer. The goal is to build a tower tall enough to reach a balloon before your opponent does. However, if you take shortcuts, your structure will crumble and water will come up faster. There are obstacles like falling meteors and bombs that can knock you down or destroy parts of your tower.
The game has several modes: Over Easy and Hard Boiled, with the latter allowing you to choose a difficulty level. There are also Survival, Solo, Time Trial, and Bomb modes. In Survival, you must survive as many rounds as possible, while in Solo, you aim to increase your score by completing rows and performing combos. The objective of Time Trial is to beat your own best time, and in Bomb, the first person to destroy the opponent's tower wins.
The PlayStation 2 version has improved graphics and sound compared to the Game Boy Advance (GBA) version. It also features cutscenes at the start of each level, a wider play area, and two additional modes: 8-player Tournament and Custom, where you can customize rules by activating different options. However, it lacks the Time Trial mode found in the GBA version.
