Wrath Unleashed , released for the PlayStation 2 in February 2004, is an action-adventure game with a unique blend of turn-based strategy and real-time combat. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the gods of the four Elements are waging war on each other to reclaim their former throne, Gaia.
The player can choose to command any of the supernatural armies, guiding them through four campaign missions. Each army is aligned with one of the four elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind, ranging from benevolent to evil. The objective is to take victory by occupying the opposing army's temples or defeating specific enemies.
Gameplay involves navigating units in turn-based fashion over a hexagonal board representing different terrains, with objectives often involving temple occupation or enemy defeat. When units meet on the same space, battles ensue in large arenas, combining real-time strategy and action elements. The player can control individual fighters for direct combat.
Additional game modes include versus and team fighter options, which remove strategic elements to focus solely on action battles. A unit editor allows players to create and customize their own soldiers and units.
