Dixie Kong is on a mission to find The Lost World, just like her friends DK and Diddy Kong. But this time, it's solo - Kiddy Kong is tagging along because Dixie feels like she needs some backup.
The gameplay is fast-paced and exciting, with Dixie able to glide using her hair and carry barrels over her head. Her partner Kiddy can jump a bit further by somersaulting over platform edges first, and together they make a formidable team. They'll also meet up with some special animal friends who can lend them a hand - like Ellie the Elephant, who shoots water at enemies, or Squawks the Parrot, who flies and spits eggs.
As players progress through the game, they'll be collecting Bonus Coins and DK Coins hidden throughout the levels. While it's possible to finish the game without these, unlocking all of them will reveal new levels in The Lost World - a worthy goal for any gamer.
The Game Boy version of Donkey Kong Land also includes a Time Attack mode, where players can try to beat the best times for certain levels after completing the game. With its challenging gameplay and exciting features, this game is sure to keep you entertained for hours on end.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a platforming adventure game where players control Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to recover stolen bananas from King K. Rool across various themed levels. The game features classic platforming challenges with a nostalgic tone, as hinted by Cranky Kong's taunts about modern gaming.
Story
Cranky Kong's Taunts
Cranky Kong, an aging video game pioneer, harassed his grandape, Donkey Kong, and his buddy, Diddy Kong. He admitted their last adventure was more successful than he expected. He jibed that kids buy anything with fancy graphics and modern music.
Donkey and Diddy tried to cover their ears as Cranky continued his taunting. Cranky claimed that in his day, they made great games with a limited color palette. He doubted Donkey could duplicate that feat today.
Donkey Kong had finally had enough of Cranky's long-winded taunts.
King K. Rool's Mischief
King K. Rool and his Kremling gang have scattered Donkey Kong's bananas across new areas of Donkey Kong Island. Some areas may look familiar, but their layouts are totally different.
New Locations
•
Kremlantis
This gigantic complex of ancient ruined temples is almost completely submerged. It is filled with Chomps and other biting fish waiting to attack the Kongs.
•
Big Ape City
Travel by zeppelin to Donkey Kong's favorite stomping ground, Big City. Don't waste time sightseeing when Kremlings are around.
•
Gangplank Galleon
King K. Rool's leaky old ship is crewed by his kooky Kremling accomplices. The Kongs will need to climb the rigging to find the stashed bananas.
•
Chimpanzee Clouds
Donkey and Diddy will venture into the clouds at the peaks of the highest mountains for sky-high adventure.

Tips & Maps
Jump
Donkey and Diddy Kong can both jump. This is their basic technique for avoiding obstacles and defeating enemies in Donkey Kong Land.
Roll/Cartwheel
These are Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong's alternate attacks. Donkey Kong's roll will bowl over most foes as well as Diddy's cartwheel.
K-O-N-G Letters
If you collect all the letters to spell K-O-N-G in a level, you will gain access to the Save Game Screen after you finish the level.
Save Game Screen
The Save Game Screen allows you to save your progress in one of three slots and tells you your current level and game completion percentage.
Erase Saved Game
To erase a saved game, press SELECT, then press A, B, or START.
Donkey Kong Land Map
The game features four worlds: Gangplank Galleon Ahoy!, Kremlantis, Monkey Mountain & Chimpanzee Clouds, and Big Ape City, each with multiple levels and a boss.
Extra Lives
Earn as many extra lives as you can in the early levels, as you will need them in later levels.
Enemy Weaknesses
Not all enemies can be defeated with a jump attack, roll, or cartwheel; some are immune to certain types of attacks.
Explore Slowly
Take your time when exploring a level, as some enemies are camouflaged and hidden, waiting to ambush you.
Secret Bonus Levels
Look for ways to access secret bonus levels.
Persistence
If you don't succeed at first, keep trying.
How to Play
Climb
Both Donkey and Diddy are expert climbers. Be it a jungle vine or the rigging in a pirate ship, the Kongs are at home with their feet off the ground!
Swim
Water doesn't faze our ape heroes either. To swim, repeatedly tap the A Button.
Levels
Levels are indicated on the map by an oval symbol.
If you find everything in a level, an exclamation point mark will appear next to the level on the map screen. To get 100% in the game, you must find every hidden secret!
Obstacles
Sometimes a boulder will block your path on the map screen. You need to find the bomb in one of the nearby levels to bypass this obstacle. It works automatically once you have it.
Continue Point
These sparkling circles indicate a continue point. If you make it to one of these, this is where you will continue the current level should you lose your life before you reach the end.
End of Stage
The goal! You did it! Get ready for the next level!
Kong Tokens
The big coins you will find in some stages are Kong Tokens. In the Bonus Levels, you can cash in these tokens for a chance to win extra lives.
Animal Friends
Expresso and Rambi are waiting to give the Kongs assistance in their quest. Release them from the crates and hop on for a ride!

Earning 1-Ups
There are many ways to earn extra Kongs in Donkey Kong Land. You'll need them as the going gets rough in the later levels!
Collecting Bananas
Gather one hundred of your wayward bananas and you will be rewarded with an extra life.
Big Bunches of Bananas
The large bunches of bananas are worth ten!
Enhancements
If you have a Super Game Boy adapter, you can play Donkey Kong Land on your TV through your Super NES.
Not only will this make it easier to see the details of the fully rendered graphics of the game, you will also get a more varied color selection, and a fully rendered screen border!
Please see your Super Game Boy instruction manual for more details on how to use your Super Game Boy.
Items & Weapons
Barrels
Some barrels can be picked up and used as weapons. Others, marked with a starburst, are cannon barrels that will launch the Kongs into space.
Buddy Barrel
Barrels with a DK symbol on them will contain your buddy. Once released, your friend can fill in for you if you lose a life, and you can switch to them using the Select Button.
Enemies & Characters
Hogwash the Flying Pig
Flying pigs that patrol the airways and violate Kong's airspace at inopportune moments, similar to Necky.
Nemo
A large shell-dwelling creature that chases down Donkey and Diddy when they're underwater.
Fangfish
A new aquatic enemy, even bigger than Chomps the ape-eating shark, making them tougher to avoid.
Hard Hat
A mole on patrol, looking to dig the ground out from under Donkey's feet, and in charge of the Mad Mole Holes.
Swirlwind
A windy vortex that can either help or hinder Kong's progress; it can be used as a moving platform if jumped on, or it can damage if approached from the side.
