NASCAR 08 is the 2007 release in the NASCAR video game series, which lets you play as your own driver and customize your car with different body colors and designs. The game's main content comes from its career mode called "Earn Your Stripes" on the PlayStation 2.
In Earn Your Stripes, you start by racing in time trials to get better starting races, then you can tune up your car to improve acceleration, tire wear, and other features. As you complete more races and gain reputation, new contracts will come in with different objectives to complete, such as finishing a race or gaining allied cars.
The game has different racing modes, including the Craftsman Truck, National (Busch), and NEXTEL Cup series, and all versions allow online multiplayer races. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions also let you share your car setups with other players online.
