The story of Wild Metal Country takes place in a futuristic world where tank-like machines have gone wild on three different planets in the Tehric system. The player must choose one of five little tanks to control and defeat these rogue machines. In the game, players navigate desolate mountain environments with varying altitudes, which play a crucial role in the gameplay. The single-player mode requires collecting 8 colored power cores while defending them from the machines, then returning them to hovering stores. With an infinite amount of lives, players have ample opportunities to try again.
The tank's movement and turret control offer unique gameplay mechanics. The two tracks can be operated independently, allowing for quick spins by moving one track forward and the other backward. The turret can also be turned in any direction, with adjustable angles and rocket distances. Keyboard control is the only means of controlling the tank.
Notable aspects of Wild Metal Country include its advanced physics modelling, 3D engine, and generous freedom for players. With no time constraints, players can experiment and explore the game's world without pressure.
