The kingdom of Toaru is a prosperous and peaceful place that is famous for its magic. Within Toaru castle lies the Magic Gem which legend says can give the person who holds it great magical powers. Because of this, it is sealed inside the castle to prevent the gem from landing in the wrong hands. One night, a dark figure and his army of monsters invades the castle and steals the gem. Armed with a sword and her magic powers, the Princess Toaru sets off to retrieve the gem and save the world.
Magical Pop'n lets you play as Princess, a young and energetic hero on a quest to reclaim the stolen Magic Gem. The game begins with Princess chasing after a floating bad guy into town, where she must use her sword and magic powers to defeat enemies and progress through the stages.
The gameplay involves navigating through various environments, fighting off enemies, and collecting stars to unlock new magic powers. Each stage features mini-bosses and a final boss that must be defeated to advance. Princess' health is measured by her heart meter, which can be replenished using items like candy, cake, and birthday cake. With unlimited continues but no save feature, players must be cautious not to lose all their lives.
