Slam Dunk: SD Heat Up is a basketball game based on the popular Japanese manga and anime series of the same name. The story follows Hanamichi Sakuragi, a young man who joins his school's basketball club to impress the captain's sister, but finds himself drawn into the world of basketball and becomes a skilled player.
The gameplay is simple yet addictive, with three main modes: Story mode and classic friendly tournaments. In Story mode, you'll follow the events of the television series as Shohoku High School qualifies for the national championship. The other two modes offer different playing experiences, including the ability to feint shots and blow up opponents' markers.
The game also features a unique "affirmative action" system, where successfully accumulating a sequence of actions (such as baskets made or avoided) fills a horizontal bar at the top of the screen. Pressing the three buttons simultaneously will unleash a powerful shot with supplemental animations, depending on the player used.
