The story of Mortal Kombat Armageddon takes place several years after the events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance . The forces of hell, led by Shang Tsung, have returned to Earth and are threatening to destroy it. The Netherrealm's ruler, Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn, has sent his generals to collect souls from various realms to fuel the destruction. The game follows Liu Kang, Kitana, Sonya Blade, and other characters as they embark on a quest to stop this threat.
The gameplay of Mortal Kombat Armageddon is a traditional fighting experience.
