Puss in Boots is a game based on the computer-animated film of the same name, which stars Puss in Boots as the protagonist. The story takes place before the events of the film Shrek 2 , where Puss meets Shrek and Donkey. In this game, Puss is a wanted outlaw who discovers that Jack and Jill have found the magic beans he has been searching for his whole life. The beans are said to lead to treasure in a giant's castle, which Puss intends to use to repay his debts.
The gameplay follows the events from the film and allows players to control Puss as they navigate through 3D environments. Using a Wii Remote, Kinect, or Move controller, players can wield a saber that attacks enemies by moving in a specific direction. Puss can also block incoming slashes, kick enemies to create space, and attack with claws using a gauge filled up by attacking enemies. The game features various mechanics, such as playing a tune on the guitar to distract enemies.
The game consists of nine missions set in different locations, each with its unique challenges. Players can collect wanted posters and golden eggs throughout the game and earn medals for completing levels. There's also a challenge mode for up to two players with five mini-games based on gameplay mechanics from the adventure mode.
