Red Steel , released on the Wii in 2006, is a crime-themed shooter set in both the USA and Japan. The player takes on the role of Scott Monroe, who must fight off various members of the Yakuza clans to rescue his fiancée.
The game features a unique blend of sword duels and gun fights using the Wiimote, allowing players to swing the controller as they would swing a sword. The positioning and movement actions of the Wiimote also enable accurate aiming with weapons.
The game offers a moral dilemma: not only must Scott fight off many clan leaders, but he is often given the option to spare lives. This can lead to gaining allies in the future or more opponents if he appears dishonorable.
Scott's goal is to gain allies and uncover the reasons for his fiancée's kidnapping.
