Wipeout 2 is a party game based on the "game show" of the same name. In it, players participate in various events throughout an episode, complete with hosts John Henderson and John Anderson introducing each round and hostess Jill Wagner conducting mock interviews before each event. The game consists of four rounds: A Qualifier, Elimination, Final Four, and Wipeout Zone.
Events are organized into Summer or Winter episodes, each consisting of four rounds. Players compete to complete challenging stages with the fastest times, dodging obstacles like giant hammers, swinging beams, and balancing acts. The game also features simultaneous play in two-player mode.
The main draw of the game is its focus on motion controls, using the Wii Remote for the Wii version, Kinect for the Xbox 360 version, and Move for the Playstation 3 version. The Xbox 360 version also includes custom character models inspired by Xbox 360 Avatars, allowing players to use their own Avatar in-game.
The game features replays, a Practice mode, and behind-the-scenes videos. Players can relive their best moments and improve their skills with the game's various modes.
