Asteroids , developed by Atari, is an early space-themed shooter game. In 1970, humanity's fate hangs in the balance as asteroids and alien spaceships threaten to destroy Earth. As a skilled pilot, you must navigate through treacherous asteroid fields and defeat hostile enemy ships to save the planet.
The gameplay of Asteroids involves controlling your spaceship, avoiding asteroids and enemy fire while firing at incoming objects. The goal is simple: survive as long as possible while racking up points by destroying enemy spaceships. As you progress through levels, new challenges and obstacles are introduced, requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking.
Asteroids was initially released on the Atari 2600 in 1979, but a newer version was made available as an interactive demo for the Wii U in August 2015.
