The story follows the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they try to stop the evil Shredder from taking over New York City. With the help of their sensei, Splinter, the Turtles must fight against Shredder's minions and other villains to save their home.
Players control one of four Turtle brothers - Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, or Raphael - as they navigate through various levels set in different locations around the city. The gameplay involves combat, platforming, and puzzle-solving, with a focus on fast-paced action and quick reflexes.
