Battleship , released for the Xbox 360, is one of the launch games of the downloadable XBLA version of Hasbro Family Game Night . It can only be played through Hasbro Family Game Night , which is offered as a free application. The game can also be found in the retail version. Hosted by Mr. Potato Head, the game can be selected from a game room. The room allows players to view trophies collected while playing. Each game comes with included hints and various background themes to choose from.
The game is a conversion of the classic board game. Players place a fleet of ships on a 10x10 grid, hiding their location from opponents. They take turns firing at the grid to try and locate the ship. During ship placement, players can rotate their ships with a key and also auto-deploy all ships. The game features three modes:
Original: classic rules, where players take turns firing a single shot.
Salvo: players can fire as many shots as there are ships left, increasing the number of shots with each turn.
Super Weapons: borrows elements from Electronic Battleship Advanced Mission to introduce strategy. Players have access to reinforcements, lucky shots, heavy shots, decoys, torpedoes, and random power-ups.
The game also includes a custom mode where individual features can be enabled. There are three difficulty levels, and multiplayer is available locally and through Xbox Live.
