In Deadpool , the player takes control of Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, as he seeks revenge against Mister Sinister after being interrupted on a contract to kill a corrupt media mogul. Instead, he discovers a larger plot that could spell the end of humanity and must team up with other X-Men, including Wolverine, Rogue, and Domino, along with Cable from the future to stop Mister Sinister's group of Marauders.
True to his character, Deadpool frequently breaks the fourth wall during the game, commenting on the script, referencing achievements, joking at the player's expense when performing poorly, and even making light of other franchises and video games. The main gameplay is a third-person action-adventure mix, where Deadpool starts with Katanas and pistols but can upgrade and acquire new guns and melee weapons using DP points scattered throughout levels.
The gameplay involves chaining combos to gain more DP, building momentum that can wipe out groups of enemies or pick up tacos dropped by foes. Deadpool also has health regeneration and teleportation abilities, allowing him to counter enemy attacks. While there's no multiplayer option, a challenge mode offers arenas unlocked during the campaign where players compete for leaderboard spots.
