Borderlands 2 , a post-apocalyptic FPS game, takes place five years after the defeat of The Destroyer. A valuable mineral called Eridian was discovered on Pandora, but the Hyperion Corporation, led by Handsome Jack, has occupied the planet and stripped it of its resources. Four vault hunters are rescued by a ClapTrap robot and introduced to a resistance movement fighting against Hyperion's regime.
Borderlands 2 , like its predecessor, combines first-person shooter gameplay with character building, quests, and procedural content generation elements from role-playing games. The game features four new characters, each representing a different class with unique skills and weapon affinities. Players can allocate skill points to upgrade their characters' abilities and choose from three skill trees that vary between classes.
Players can tackle the game's challenges solo or team up with others in the cooperative multiplayer mode. The game world is now continuously connected, allowing for a more open-world experience. Non-player characters have also been given schedules and agendas, adding to the game's realism.
