Fuse is a third-person shooter where the player takes on the role of a member of the elite Overstrike 9 squad. In the future, four misfit agents join together and form Overstrike 9, a team that aims to stop the evil Raven Corporation from gaining an alien power supply called Fuse. The game revolves around the four agents of the Overstrike 9 team: Dalton Brooks, a mercenary, Naya Deveraux, a former Raven Corporation employee, Isabelle "Izzy" Sinclair, a young scientist, and Jacob Kimble, a decorated detective. Each agent brings a unique set of abilities that sets them apart from each other. For example, Dalton has an expandable shield that can catch bullets and enemy fire, while Jacob's crossbow deals massive damage to enemies.

Fuse is a game of teamwork, allowing players to switch between characters during battle using the LEAP system. This feature enables players to utilize each agent's specific skill set, working together to overcome challenges. The game supports two-player split-screen co-op and up to four players in co-op online. As players progress through the game, they earn experience to unlock abilities and upgrade weapons. Each agent also has a unique skill tree that allows for further customization of their character.
