Split/Second

The player has access to a power play bar that can be filled up by doing certain actions like drifting or jumping. Once a section of the bar is filled, an icon appears above the cars ahead, indicating a power play that can be activated. These power plays can be for example exploding barrels or trains going up in flames.

The game features several modes besides normal races, such as Destruction, where the player has to reach the finish line while every power play on the track is triggered, and Air Strike, where the player has to dodge missiles shot by a helicopter. The mode Air Revenge allows the player to return those missiles to their origin.

The game also features Time Trial events and Elimination, where the last driver of the pack is eliminated after set time intervals. During the campaign, the player earns credits that unlock access to new cars and special decals. Each episode features a bonus event that needs to be unlocked by wrecking a certain amount of cars in other events.

The game offers a split-screen mode for two players as well as online multiplayer for up to eight players with three different game modes available.
