The gameplay is straightforward, with an intuitive control system that lets players focus on the track ahead. By releasing the accelerator during sharp turns, drivers can initiate drifts, which can be amplified into turbo boosts by tapping the Blast button. Trick jumps are also possible, allowing cars to soar over other competitors or ramps. The game's AI opponents can be dispatched with a well-placed slam, but beware – your own car is protected.
The five tracks in Cruis'n Blast offer unique challenges and surprises. In Death Valley, a tornado and earthquake distort the course, while Rio de Janeiro's parade of floats causes chaos on the track. Madagascar's most iconic resident makes an appearance as a pursuer. The Cruis'n Club also comes into play, allowing players to save their progress, unlock new upgrades, and compete with friends.
