Gray Matter , a science fiction, horror-thriller in the form of a classic third person, point and click, 2D/3D adventure game, returns Jane Jensen to the scene after a decade of casual games under her belt. The player assumes the role of two different characters: Samantha Everett, an itinerant street magician and student from America currently in the UK, and Dr. David Styles, a recently widowed Oxford neurobiology researcher.
The story follows Sam as she helps Dr. Styles recruit students to participate in his experiments at Dread Hill House, while also searching for a clandestine magician's club. As she navigates this complex situation, she must use her special skills involving sleight of hand to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles.
Gray Matter features a combination of 2D and 3D graphics, with pre-rendered 2D backgrounds and 3D characters. The game's interface is integrated with the two playable characters' areas of expertise, allowing players to use Sam's magic tricks and David's scientific research to solve puzzles and progress through the game.
The gameplay also features a game progression system, which allows gamers to keep track of events and tasks across eight chapters. With its unique blend of puzzle-solving and character-driven storytelling, Gray Matter offers a thrilling adventure for fans of point-and-click games.
