Set in a much earlier era, Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle follows the adventures of Morgane, daughter of pirate captain Alessandro Castillo. In the first chapter, she's a young girl who wants to play with her friends Nell and Bobbi, but her mother says she has to do some chores first. She finds items and uses them to clean up around the house, then joins her friends to defeat the local bully, Arno, and climb her favorite look-out rock. When her father's ship arrives, she overhears him telling her mother that Uncle Eduardo fell overboard and is missing.

The game takes Morgane on a journey across five islands, one of which is similar to an island in So Blonde: Back to the Island . The player visits each location by clicking on it on an interactive map or travels between islands by clicking on the ship in the docks. Progress is made by talking to people, solving puzzles, and playing mini-games, although these are optional.
