The King has been wounded by an assassin, and it's up to his family members to find a cure in the cursed castle Hamson. The goal of the game is for these characters to explore the castle and overcome challenges.
Rogue Legacy is a real-time 2D action platformer with RPG elements. Players control a character who dies and is replaced by a new heir, each with unique abilities and weaknesses. This means that players must adapt their strategy after every death, as the new heir may have different strengths and skills.
Rogue Legacy features randomly generated rooms and permadeath, adding an extra layer of challenge to the game. Players can collect gold from each heir, which they can use to build a manor and unlock special rooms with beneficial features when they die again as a new heir.
