One of the key additions is the ability to perform mid-air shots, drop shots, and slap shots, which add a new level of strategy to the game. The sequel also introduces new stages, some of which award points based on specific criteria, such as a Casino stage that rewards points based on the number printed on the disc.

Players can choose from 12 playable characters in the initial launch version, with a free update adding two more characters and a hidden character. The game features various gameplay modes, including arcade mode, local multiplayer against the computer or another player, online multiplayer, and practice mode with tutorials and AI opponent configuration options.
