The KOF cast decide to settle their differences a new way - quiz battles. When Yuri from Art of Fighting 's latest kidnapping is used as bait, players pick one of four King of Fighters characters (alongside guest characters Haohmaru and Nakoruru) and head out on a journey to rescue her and test their knowledge. The overworld is represented as a board game, with branching paths; players start their turn rolling a die to decide how far to travel, then duel whatever character is at that position in a quiz battle. Characters have health, which they lose at every incorrect answer; run out of health, and it's a game over.
The gameplay revolves around answering trivia questions about various subjects, from history to pop culture. Players can choose from different characters each time they play, but the overall goal remains the same - rescue Yuri and win the quiz battle. With each correct answer, players earn points and fill up their character's health bar; losing health results in a character's demise.
