Seven Samurai 20XX is a third-person 3D action game inspired by the greatest samurai tale of all time; Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai. In proper tribute to the masterpiece, the game has involved the cooperation of Kurosawa Production and the late director's son, Hisao, as well as major contributions from world-famous artists such as legendary artist/designer Moebius and Academy Awardยฎ winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Seven Samurai 20XX engages players with an experience that combines intense melee-style samurai combat with an epic story that takes the classic's timeless tale into the future. Players take on the role of the young samurai Natoe to fight an army of mechanical beasts, and ultimately enlist six warriors to help him defend the humans' last city. Using a variety of swordplay styles, Natoe employs numerous single and double katana attacks and an arsenal of moves that grows with his mastery of the samurai way.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a dark fantasy RPG where players take on the role of Samurai protecting villages from mysterious Humanoids after a sacred light source fails. The game involves exploring a fractured world of cities, inns, and desolate lands, likely engaging in combat and quests to restore balance.
Story
The World
A Steeple of Light pierces the sky, created by the twelve members of the Council of Ancients and the Child of Heaven using a sacred relic. This holy sanctuary is the center of the world, surrounded by Inns and Towns.
Humanoids
Another race, known as Humanoids, exists in the darkness. These mechanical life forms are shrouded in mystery; their origin and creator are unknown. Some Humanoids are designed to look exactly like humans, possessing advanced technology and superior physical and mental capabilities.
The Delicate Balance
Humans and Humanoids have maintained a delicate balance under the City's light. However, the Child of Heaven has disappeared, and the Steeple of Light has lost its power source.
The Darkness Descends
Lightning flashes upon dark crevices among deserted buildings, areas normal humans cannot enter. Storms within the now dimly lit City carry the protests of devils living in the dark. Shadows among vacant buildings haunt their destiny of a life in darkness.
Villagers, living in fear, are seeking Samurai for protection.
Overview of the World
This world is built around a Steeple of Light at the City's center, with Inns scattered around it. Cracks spread radially from the City, requiring special equipment like elevators and barges to travel between Inns.
A vast, desolate land surrounds the City and Inns, featuring ruins of ancient civilizations.
City
An enormous steeple reaches high into the heavens. It is the world's center and a place of worship due to its bright light. The Child of Heaven's disappearance has caused the steeple to lose its power source.
Inns
Inns were once connected cities. However, the city center (Lawless City) and underground railways were severed by a collapse. Each Inn is now independent.
Villages
Peaceful Villages exist within the wastelands. Dick and Matty live in one such village. This village protects the mysterious girl Hinata, leading to relentless attacks from Humanoids.
