Mass Media (also known as Mass Media Games) is an American video game developer founded in the 1980s. The studio is known for developing Starcraft 64, Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, and various Namco Museum compilations, as well as working on the Carnival Games franchise. They also developed Thunder in Paradise Interactive, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, and Bass Masters 2000.
In 1995, the studio delivered the interactive movie game
Thunder in Paradise Interactive for the Philips CD-i, showcasing early full-motion video capabilities. They transitioned to cartridge-based systems with the Nintendo 64 release of
Starcraft 64 in 1997, adapting a complex PC real-time strategy game for console play. During this era, the developer also produced
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (1997) and the fishing simulation
Bass Masters 2000 (1999), which saw a distinct release variant known as
Bass Masters 2000 [Gray Cart] (1999).
Their relationship with classic arcade properties yielded
Namco Museum (1999) and
Namco Museum (2000), alongside the 3D puzzle-platformer
Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness (2000). These projects established the technical foundation that eventually integrated the studio into the broader
Carnival Games franchise, defining their legacy of adapting diverse intellectual properties across multiple console generations.
