About
Sega was founded in 1960 as Standard Games and later became a major force in the arcade and console markets. The company is widely recognized for popularizing the 16-bit era with the Sega Genesis and for iconic franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog. It merged with Sammy Corporation to form Sega Sammy Holdings in 2004.
