Konami handled the publishing duties for the initial 2000 releases, which were developed by Rebellion Developments for home consoles and PC. This adaptation utilized a third-person perspective where players navigated tombs, solved hieroglyphic puzzles, and fought supernatural enemies using firearms, torches, and magical amulets. The Game Boy Color counterpart, developed by Fluid Images, translated this experience into a side-scrolling platformer.

For the 2002 handheld iteration, Ubisoft took over development, delivering an isometric action-adventure that emphasized exploration and combat within the ruins of Hamunaptra. Years later, Eurocom developed the 2008 release, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which was published by Sierra Entertainment. This title expanded the gameplay formula by incorporating melee combat systems, gunplay, and quick-time events tailored to the Nintendo Wii's motion controls and the PlayStation 2's hardware. It also featured voice talent from the film, including Luke Ford, and shifted the aesthetic focus toward ancient Chinese mythology and terracotta soldiers. Together, these titles trace the evolution of licensed cinematic tie-ins across three console generations.
