SPECIAL ATTACKS
Some special attacks require additional commands after the initial button combination. An onscreen graphic will prompt you for these commands.
Power-Up Attack
When you see the Power-Up Attack graphic, rapidly push controller buttons or rotate the left or right analog stick. You have limited time to build power.
The faster you "mash" the buttons, the greater the attack will be. A higher bar on the screen means more damage to the opponent.
WISDOM OF KING KAI™
Avoidance is the key. Dodging or interrupting an incoming powerful attack is crucial to survival.
•
Tap Guard (X button) + up or down directional button to jump to either side.
•
Try to land an attack while your opponent is powering up a special attack.
•
Good reaction time can help you avoid devastating attacks.
Push-Back Attack
When an opponent launches an attack, you can try to repel it. When you see the Push-Back Attack graphic, rapidly rotate the left or right analog stick or push controller buttons.
The characters will engage in a reverse tug-of-war. The player who generates the most power wins. If the attacker wins, they deal major damage; if the defender wins, damage is minimal.
Surprise Defense
Defenders sometimes get another chance to negate a special attack. When you see the Surprise Defense graphic, both players must press either the ■, ●, ●, or ▲ button, or no button at all.
If the defending player presses the same button as the attacker, they avoid some of the damage.
Ultimate Attack
For very powerful attacks, like Yamcha's™ Spirit Ball Attack, you must enter an additional button combination for the attack to succeed.
Pressing the correct buttons in the right order deals major damage. Fumbling the input will cause the attack to fail.
