Night Striker is a third-person shooter that shares similarities with Space Harrier . Dr. Lindvery Maska and his daughter have been kidnapped by a terrorist group, prompting Dick Dagras to assemble an elite team of soldiers skilled in using high-tech armored flying cars for a rescue mission and to destroy the terrorist organization.
The player controls their armored car as they navigate through each stage, shooting down waves of enemies. A boss appears at the end of each stage, and upon defeat, the player must decide which path to take in the next stage, similar to Darius . Instead of lives, the player has a shield that takes damage from each hit, which is replenished at the end of each stage.
The Sega Mega CD version of the game features remixed CD-audio, while the Saturn version boasts exclusive bonus levels.
