California Games , originally known as "Extreme Games", was a sports game that featured various sun-kissed activities. Players could choose their sponsors and compete in events like skateboarding, footbag, surfing, roller skating, flying disc, and BMX. The surfing event was judged by experts, who awarded scores to help players refine their routines.
The Atari versions of the game, for the 2600 and Lynx consoles, lacked the flying disc and roller skating events. In contrast, the Genesis version excluded only the flying disc event.
