Clue is a full-motion video adaptation of the popular board game of the same name. There are three storylines with four difficulty levels, each with a unique solution making it altogether twelve different mysteries. The storylines include The Hodded Madonna , Happy Ever After and Deadly Patent . Each storyline has its own distinct mystery to solve.
The gameplay involves using the cursor to navigate around the rooms, with a 360° panorama that can be scrolled by moving the cursor to its edges. Clicking on certain objects will trigger video clips or interrogation screens, where you can question suspects and gather information. The game also features secret passages that lead to new rooms and a notebook to keep track of your findings.
Each difficulty level has a different number of accusations available, with the easiest level having three and the hardest having one. As you progress through the levels, the room positions become random, adding an extra layer of challenge to the game.
The gameplay is structured around two types of actions: moves and actions. A move involves entering or leaving a room, while an action involves examining items, interrogating suspects, watching a flashback, or performing another action. You can perform up to two of these actions or two moves on each turn.
Clue was released for the CD-i console in 1970 .
