Beamrider , released on Colecovision in 1983, is a classic action-adventure game where you take on the role of a beam-riding spaceship tasked with clearing 99 sectors of space from hostile aliens. Your mission is to destroy fifteen white flying saucers in each sector to progress.
The game features a unique beam-riding mechanic, allowing you to stop only on one of five beams at the bottom of the screen. You're equipped with both lasers and torpedoes, with torpedoes being more powerful but also limited to three per level. Beating a sector earns points, and completing each one unlocks new challenges as you progress through the even-numbered sectors.
