Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is set in a world where ancient giants called Titans roam the skies, surrounded by a sea of clouds. The people live on the backs of these creatures and use Blades, powerful life forms bonded to them through crystals, for protection and combat. Rex, our protagonist, lives on the back of a Titan named Gramps and makes his living salvaging treasures from beneath the clouds.
Rex's life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes bonded to Pyra, a legendary Blade known as the Aegis. With her power comes great responsibility, and Rex promises to take her home to Elysium, a fabled land atop the World Tree. However, their quest is threatened by factions seeking to control Pyra's power, including a terrorist organization called Torna.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an action-packed RPG with open-world exploration and a dynamic party system. The player controls up to three Drivers at a time, each paired with a Blade that grants them unique abilities and powers. The Blades can be assigned to specific Drivers based on their strengths and the party's elemental balance.
The game features a complex character development system, where Blades are randomly summoned from Core Crystals or bonded to Drivers over the course of the story. Each Blade has its own unique stats, skill trees, and personalities, making each encounter feel distinct. Players must manage their Blades' skills and items to create a well-rounded party.
The world is divided into wilderness and towns, with points of interest that can be interacted with using the Blades' skills. As players explore and complete quests, they can increase the Titans' level of development, unlocking new shops, items, and trade agreements between their inhabitants.
