Adventure Island II is an action-packed adventure game where you control Master Higgins , who must rescue his cavegirl from alien invaders threatening to dominate the Earth. The gameplay remains largely consistent with its predecessor, Adventure Island : navigate through levels, fighting off enemies and collecting power-ups to gain an advantage.
One of the key additions in Adventure Island II is the introduction of dinosaurs as mounts, which provide unique abilities such as flying or shooting fireballs. Like all power-ups, these can be used strategically, with the option to save them for later. The game features eight worlds with distinct themes and overhead maps, often featuring multiple paths to explore. Each world culminates in a boss fight, adding an extra layer of challenge.
Adventure Island II was released on the GameBoy in 1993.
