Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

The gameplay involves exploring towns, dungeons, castles, and more, searching for treasure chests and attacking enemies. Players can also visit shops and inns to purchase items or rest to recover strength. Each level ends with a boss fight, but defeating them requires participating in a mini-game called 'The Surprise Match', which often involves button-mashing or memory match-style challenges.
