The 1995 Game Boy adaptation of True Lies , a unique game based on the film, takes five of the nine levels from the console version, but features a different gameplay perspective with straight top-down views instead of angled ones. The stages have also been completely redesigned.
Players control secret agent Harry Tasker as he attempts to save the world from bad guy Aziz and his terror group Crimson Jihad. Each level is inspired by action set pieces from the film, including infiltrating a chateau, chasing Aziz through a mall and park, and facing off in an office building. In each stage, Harry has a specific task: downloading data, finding Aziz, or disarming a nuclear device. However, he's not alone – hordes of terrorists stand in his way, armed with a variety of guns that must be taken out using different tactics. Harry starts with a standard pistol but can collect more powerful weapons like machine guns and grenades to aid him. The twist: each gun requires separate ammo, which must be collected separately. Terrorists have similar guns, as well as heavier ones like grenade launchers, but also civilians who can provide health boosts or extra lives if not targeted.
