The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery is a game based on the 2006 movie The Barbie Diaries . The game is set in Barbie's high school where valuable items for the high school charity auction have gone missing. By locating these items, Barbie can help the school and also increase her chances of landing the TV anchor position currently held by Raquelle, a girl she does not like.
The gameplay is largely an adventure game where Barbie explores the environment, talks to characters, and uses various tools to locate and inspect clues. The BDA (Barbie Diary Assistant) provides access to all available tools, such as the Infrared Viewer, MP3 Decoder, or Picture Descrambler. There are nineteen locations to explore, with a map providing an overview. Clues can be stored on a separate screen, along with an overview of current objectives. Mini-games featuring tech tool usage are also available at the main menu.
