War Games

War Games is a strategic action & adventure game based on the popular 1983 movie of the same name, starring Matthew Broderick. The game takes place across six screens representing different areas of the U.S.A., where enemy missiles, planes, and subs will attack.

As the player, you must direct your own forces, including missiles, planes, subs, and satellites, to intercept the incoming threats. Each type of defense has its strengths and weaknesses, requiring a strategic approach. Satellites are a versatile option but appear only occasionally, while some weapons have limited effectiveness in certain areas or against specific enemies.

The game's tension builds as your bases and cities are struck, with a DefCon indicator counting down for each area. If the overall DefCon reaches 1 or all cities and bases are destroyed, a counterstrike is launched, ending the game. The player wins by preventing a counterstrike long enough for a cease-fire to be reached. With eight different difficulty levels, players can progress through increasingly challenging modes.
