Bulldog is a vertically scrolling shooter game where you pilot a small ship through a challenging path. Your goal is to blast your way past enemy defenses to destroy the mother ship. However, the POLON's have made it difficult for you with multiple types of firing installations and obstacles like walls that can block your progress.
The game gets tougher as you progress, with each level featuring seven different types of enemy fire and obstacles. If you crash into a wall or get hit by enemy fire, you lose a ship, and the game ends when all your reserve ships are gone. At the end of each level, you face a mothership that needs to be destroyed by taking out its guns and installations, after which you move on to the next, more difficult level.
Your ship is equipped with lasers to destroy obstacles, and you can find power-ups along the way to help you. These bonuses include extra speed, firepower, repeat fire, bombs, and others that can aid your progress. With practice and the right equipment, you can overcome the challenges of Bulldog and reach the end.
Bulldog was released on the Commodore 64 in 1987 and provides a fun and challenging experience for fans of vertically scrolling shooters.
