AirBlade takes place in a near future where Oscar has developed a powerful energy source that could change the world. However, the GCP Corporation discovers it and fears it will hurt their oil business. Desperate, they kidnap Oscar to silence him, but he gives his friend Ethan a prototype hoverboard called the AirBlade before being taken.
The player controls Ethan as he completes mission-based objectives to rescue Oscar , spread the discovery, and stop the evil corporation. Each mission has time limits to complete tasks such as destroying cameras or taking out guards using the AirBlade . The player also finds items and bonus rooms to aid them, and can unlock additional modes like "Score Attack" and "Freestyle" that reward tricks and stunts.
Players can enjoy various multiplayer modes, including "Ribbon Tag" and "Elimination", where eight players compete to score points on tracks, with the lowest scoring player eliminated each round until only one remains.
