Maze Action is a third person action game where the player participates in the Hero Academy final exam. In this exam, the player must battle other participants in a maze with deadly traps and items to neutralize opponents.

The four playable characters are Lee Barak from the USA, Cindy Trent from Britain, Andy Chin from China, and Katie Smith from Japan, each with different stats. The goal is to gather three keys of the right color in a maze before an opponent does and return them to the spawning point. In the maze, items like med kits, guns, and other helpful items can aid the player in fighting against opponents who have the key they need. After defeating all four playable characters, the player faces the final boss: a mysterious woman who explains the game's story.

The game features a Story mode and a Free mode where players can battle each other in multiplayer.
