Puyo Pop Fever is an action-adventure game where Amitie and her nemesis Raffine search for their missing magic flying cane. Their quest takes them towards a distant dark castle, where they must challenge everyone in their path. The journey is filled with obstacles as they come across various opponents who challenge them to games of Puyo Pop Fever . In the game, players clear blocks by combining four or more of the same color, which then vanish and produce Nuisance Puyos.
The goal is to eliminate these pesky Puyos by clearing neighboring Puyos. When an opponent sends Nuisance Puyos to your screen, you can try to "offset" by clearing your own Puyos and limiting the number that would fall on your screen. This also increases your Fever Meter.
When this meter fills up, you'll receive a set of prearranged Puyos with which you can create giant combos and send tons of Nuisance Puyos to your opponent.
The game features a two-player mode, where players compete against each other. Some versions allow for more players, such as the PlayStation 2 -based version, which allows up to eight players to compete in free-for-all or team modes. Puyo Pop Fever was released on November 24, 2000 , and has since become a popular puzzle game that challenges players of all ages.
