Blackhole Assault , released in 1993 for the Sega Mega CD, is a Beat'em Up game that takes place in the 22nd century where Earth's technology has advanced to explore its solar system due to resource constraints. Humans are trying to harvest resources from the entire solar system but face trouble from alien invaders.
The gameplay revolves around single-round, 1-on-1 robot fighting action using the Cybernetic Anthropomorphized Machine (C.A.M.). Players fight against alien robots on various planets and moons in the solar system. The game features 10 backdrops to choose from.
Blackhole Assault has four different modes: Operation BHA, Exhibition mode where players can customize matches, Tournament mode, and League mode. Exhibition mode allows for customization of robots, backdrops, and computer-controlled fighters.
